Looking for anyone here who has a Steiger 255? I'm about 99% sure that this is the boat I want but wondering if the single 300, twin 150's or twin 200's would be best. Not looking for top speed looking for best fuel economy at cruise. Im not going to have huge loads 3-4 people max with single bait tank and ice and couple rods with full fuel.

Single engine weighs less. Should be best fuel economy.
But will it have enough power with a full load? If one engine is stuggling it will consume more fuel than two that are not? I see all the performance data and they have two people on board and half tank of fuel. Of course its going to get good numbers. I want realistic numbers with full load going out to the fishing grounds.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get twins as I'm going to take it off shore 80+ miles so I want the extra engine in case one goes out I can limp it in. Just wondering if the twin 150's will be under powered. The twin 200's are another 7k so that is a lot off fuel money. Also, the 150's have lower compression so you can use 87 octane.

Look for low end torque… between the 200 vs 150. The reality. That is where is matters and most boaters seem to cry… mpg is the next complaint…. Who cares about doing 30-50 mph on the h20??? Guys who fish wanna cruise when water permits at 20….

Thats why I started this thread to try and find people who have this boat with different engine set ups. I'm never going to know on paper how its going to perform on the water.

I’ve got twin 200s on a 26 seapro WAC. Cruise 26 Top 48
Motors at 3500 rpm at 26. 2.2 mpg. 150s would probably be ok but like the power band on the 200s.
