Ok, you guys got me.

I spent all night and day (when I should be working, mind you LOL) thinking about getting started. I'm leaning really hard towards just biting the bullet and getting the ALPS power wrapper.....but I'm a little at a loss for tools, etc.

Looks like I can get basic kits, but in my experience, it seems like kits aren't as good as buying the right high quality tools & supplies individually. If anyone can share things that one needs to get started or need to haves vs. nice to haves, that would be awesome!

If there is a thread about this, feel free to point me in that direction, I tried the search function but didn't really find anything. I sold a bunch of gear and have some cash that I need help spending ASAP, before I use it on beer. :p

Best,
E

dont do it with a hand wrapper, f that.....
When I started many folks mentioned using a hand wrapper & I neglected to take their advise.
Glad I didnt cuz that would have tremendously slowed the process down & discouraged me right from the get-go...
I also prefer to use thread bobbins vs the thread carriage.

Good to know, I have a ton of thread bobbins from fly tying and I'm not sure if the spools are the same but it would be nice since I can handle a bobbin pretty well.

If you tie flies, I'm guessing you have these handy buggers, too:
