8 ounce with 5/0 Owner 5X strong treble hook and one 11/0 assist …
16 ounce with two 11/0’s (no assist hook yet)…
20 ounce with two 13/0’s and one 13/0 assist hook…
Assist hooks are VMC with double 500# para cord
All have 400# multi strand wire through center of weights & crimped…
450#-500#++ rings crimped onto 400# ball bearing swivels…
8oz = 227 grams + hardware
16 oz = 454 grams + hardware
20 oz = 567 grams + hardware (for the big 🐟 MK50 w/130#)…
We’ll see how they fall ? … ain’t no way they’ll outrun a knife jig …
All glow great … most …. Not all of the sinkers under the squid skirts … I painted with a glow paint and have one coat of clear lacquer … when it’s difficult to insert the sinker inside of the skirts I use a little Vaseline and that helps a lot.

I would bet if you sprayed them with that Gulp squid , they would work better.

The weights have a void inside of the squid 🦑 skirts …
The weights are tapered …
I could polk a few holes in the skirts and inject some 🦑 scent …
But then I’d have to wash that 🦑 smell out when I got home.
OR I could hang them outside my garage way up high 🐈⬛

What is your plan for these? - You gonna test them out on some tuna long range style? Or you planning to see if a WSB will get some at CAT?

I’ve got a three day coming up in late April … it’s a little early …
Then I’ve got a five day in December…
And a couple of one and a half days …
I’ll just have to see which way the winds going to blow 💨🐟🤞

Great looking jig and a super cool idea, but would you be able to use these in California?

Reason I ask is because isn’t there a two hooks per line limitation? Does that regulation apply to lures?

Two hook rule applies to rock cod fishing only. For tuna, etc, you can turn a rig into a porcupine if you wish.

I used similar heavy large squid lures on a tuna trip two years ago, during night hours when fish were around but not being very eager to bite anything we were dropping. Hooked up three times, each time bitten cleanly through the 200# leader pretty quickly. Crew said that large sharks were often around the tuna schools, but not having swim bladders they usually aren't seen on the sonar. I hope that you have a more productive experience.

"but not having swim bladders they usually aren't seen on the sonar." I am sorry for hijacking the thread, but I think? fish and mammals with lungs show up on sonar! I do recognize that porps seem to not be "in the cone" of sonar, but I thought it was from the signal messing with them. Albacore, skipjack, and mackerel do not have swim bladders, but show up on sonar. I am sure some BD'ers will help define this better.
PS the jigs look awesome, night jigging, bouncing for halibut...

You are probably right. That was just what the crew told me. I know that sonar reflections are about more than just solid mass.
