Had done some limited split ring testing in the past so decided to expand my efforts to see of my original findings were correct.
Split rings tested.
Owner Ultra #8 405 lbs.
Owner Hyper Wire #8 120 lb. #10 220 lbs.
Pit Bull ,, does not assign size numbers just wts. #100 lb. ,,#150 lb.,, #200 lb.

Did 2 pulls each one pulling on both double wires and one pulling on one double wire and one single wire. Took all readings when the split ring "Started" to deform not until it opened up. All of the ratings on the packages appear to indicate the point of destruction not the usable wt. range. As a best guess ball park figure you can reduce package ratings by about 30%. That would be the worst case senario pulling on the one single wire and the other side with the double wire. Since that is where the pulling force will always be when using rings to attach hooks, adjust accordingly. If tying line on the ring always tie each line on the double wires

Hands down the winner was the Owner Ultra the #8 rated at 405 lbs. Which rating is about twice as strong as the Hyper Wire #8. The Ultra wire is .015 thicker then the Hyper accounting for its additional strength ,,,, 405 lbs is way over the present capacity of my test rig. Can go to 330 lbs but had to error on the side of caution and chickened out at 205 lbs. Things were starting to twist , torque and strain. At that 205 lb pull there was virtually no distortion of the Ultra pulling on both double wires and very very small distortion on the single wire double wire pull at 205 lbs.

As a heads up there is a price to pay for the high strength of the Ultras. They are difficult to open with the standard run of the mill split ring pilers. A friend of mine has to use channel locks to grip tight enough to open them. However after some BD research purchased a pair of Pit Bull Heavy Duty (HD) split ring pliers are perfect for the task. Would highly reccommend them. $13.00

Other options said to do the job.
The 7 inch are needed for the Ultras.

The size on the Owners is the ID in mm. Just measure the ID of the Pitbulls to see how they correspond to the Owners.

The HPA's work better than the Pit Bulls but the PB's are 1/4 the price! The PB's work better than the Texas Tackles and are cheaper as well. Gotta love the Pit Bulls!

Thanks all for the input above.
Jason: I'm still looking down on the grass, thanks for the concern.
Huck: HPA's very nice..... like the PB's, lite and Flashy .
Rubber: Did not know that, learned something today,,TX
Aguachino: Glad it helped.
Would like to test some of the Triple Wrap Split Rings but there is no local source. They have the potential to be super strong ,,,, that is if they use a high tensile strength steel. Eliminating that single wire attachment point is a huge asset .
