Was it slow pitch jigging, or speed jigging with a slow pitch setup? The guy in the background at the end of the video is speed jigging. Asking because I think yellows would generally respond better to speed jigging than slow pitch. Also for ideas on the method to use if yellows are around! Nice fish!

The guy in the background is not speed jigging. What you're seeing here is just bad technique. Rod butt should be under the forearm, and being used for leverage to move the jig. Here, he's got the rod under the armpit, and is using quarter turns. This rod position is usually done by someone inexperienced, or that has not dedicated time to learn the proper technique.

This style can be more effective with the tip of the rod down a bit, using the quarter turns to flip the jig side to side, and that little punchy bump of the rod for some extra movement. However, the butt end should still be under the forearm.
