    So here's a question for y'all
So in a trip I lost half a spool of 100 pound spectra to the ocean.
My question is, would you just tie on a new knot and spool up more line on top? Or remove it all and go with new line?
I know it may sound dumb, but what would you do?
    Thanks

Cost of a full spool vs what you need to fill it?

Comes down to cost. One more knot to go wrong or 'tangle'

If your talking about 100lb spectra you're talking about big fish so I wouldn't chance it, I'd go all new line.

You can save what you have for something else.

I was thinking the same. And actually thinking of going down to 80 but I already have an 80 set up.
    Hmmm

You might post this on the long range board to get better info. Some of the guys that frequent that board are the best at answering this particular question and not all of them check these other spots.

I'd just add more to it. Bimini to bimini, if the connection is too close to the top for your liking then just flip the line.

Splice and add, if you purchase a bulk spool of Spectra you are likely to see splices in it from the manufacturer. not a big deal...

you could always splice hollow on top, that what I do anyway if Im fishing anything over 80 pound.

Solid or hollow? If it's hollow, splice and re-fill. If it's solid, you can either pull it off or splice with a piece of hollow and re-fill. Take it to a reputable tackle shop either way.

what Robert said. 10 ft insertion from each end to a 20 ft pc of hollow, stretch the entire splice and rub your nails over it under tension to get the loose spots out, finish with 2 nail knots on each end, One right at the end to create a smooth transition thru guides and one about 2 to 3 inches back from the ends.

Sounds like a lot, but a small or medium latch needle and about 15 minutes gets it done.

I'm so new to fishing braid I miss a little lost.
But I'll take it to a shop and gin from there.
