Wow What a great week of fishing. We all know how strange this year has been. Its the season that didnt really start that is not really ending.....if that makes anysense. Spectra has consistantly been catching exotics and this weekend was no different. Fishing has been excellent, especially for this time of year!

Mid week, a buddy asked if I could skipper his skiff and I said sure. I did a little local run for some rockfish. Saw Mark W. post so I wanted to see if any lings were home in my holes......and sure enough they were....

    Really? November?

We were able to catch fish at all three islands this past week. santa barbara island as we all know has been biting pretty well. We were only able to land one ourselves and saw some other fish being caught around us. The fishing was pick pick at best but its fishing. The weather has been amazing. After all season of complaining about the cold water and the wind and the rain, now we are fishing in t-shirt and shorts weather. Absolutely flat calm weather. We were able to round out the sacks with other fish as well.

After that trip we had a special 2 day. One of my special clients wanted to go fishing and hooping. We had to leave late and come home early.....Like always, I wish I had more time.

This group has never seen live squid before:

hooked and lost a yellow at cat but great fishing all around for the other fish
    [IMG]

Our traditional Breakfast plate, I know we all can catch some seabass on our own boats, but sometimes it nice to put your feet up and really enjoy a nice day on the water with excellent food and customer service.

We figure since we were here we would do a few sets of hoops to try our luck for lobster, we were rewarded with 8 very nice legal bugs. Everyone got to take some home.

We used all PROMAR GEAR. Wow they really made some nice and simple products to use. Very simple for anyone to get into hooping.

    Prep...

We used the new Promar Ambush nets and they work awesome....I hate to say it, but it makes hooping so much easier. The bait cages just clip on to the hoops and the line clips on to that and away it goes.....Grab the led light, throw it in a milk jug, and cross fingers for limits of bugs......It goes something like that.........

Promar also makes these reusable led glow sticks. In the day time, i was not impressed at all by how bright it was, but at night time.......WOW....Look for yourself....very easy to spot my hoops.

After a few sets, we prepare a nice steak dinner for the boys, 6 pack service at its finest...

Again, the weather has been very nice and we were very lucky to see mother nature showing off......

We ended up getting 2 and lost my anchor at 9am. Man we were super bummed. The spare anchor we had on board, I sold to another boater on the water last week when they needed assistance.....and now i have no anchor....

Well we had to leave at 11am anyways, so we made the best of it....made some drifts and were rewarded with a nice halibut.

Some bonita were in the mix as well as barracuda too...odd
    [IMG]

During this time we tried to retrieve it, we made biscuits and gravy with some sausage and boy it was awesome!

Rockfishing was excellent, with lots of sheeps in the mix.....

Some fresh shrimp ceviche for mid day snacks.....

    Chili dogs for lunch
    [IMG]

Ugly.....but fun to catch and good to eat
    [IMG]

To end the day off, on the ride home, the boys got to enjoy watching Sunday Football while enjoying their last meal of lasagna....

A nice sunset to end the trip......the sky looked like it was on fire.....awesome view.

The season is far from over. We saw lots of good signs of fish. If you would like booking information or would like to fish with us call 562-266-6228 or visit or website at Spectrasportfishing.com

As always a great post. I am really impressed with your operation. You have done in your first year what many, no matter the years they have been in buisness, have never accomplished.
    Congratulations.
