So with their being 2 Sonic hubs now, it looks like the older is the better of the two. Is that a correct statement? I will be hooking it into an original HDS.

My other question is do I have to mount a satellite radio antenna with this or does the new Lowrance puck do it all?

Just get a Fusion marine stereo with Bluetooth and stream music from your phone.

    music from your chartplotter? wtf?
I just have a Jensen stereo below with a control head up top, you can usb your phone to listen to your iTunes and it charges your phone, and all the controls are remoted to the control head. I cant see paying for yet another satellite radio receiver for the boat. but I have two cars with real time traffic info so i'm already pissed off at the bill:0 lol

The original SonicHub is a little outdated at this point, in my opinion. I’m not familiar with the newer one.

The satellite radio antenna is similar to the gps puck, but I believe you still need a separate puck for each.

I don’t know if the new SonicHub is BlueTooth compatible, but it’d be nice if it were. The old will only accept an older iPod/iPhone with the wide charger port, or a newer device with a USB cable. The location of the USB receptacle within the hub makes it difficult to insert.

I have one of the older ones. 5 YR old. I use Sirrus to get my music. 35 to 70 miles off shore means no cell towers reach for streaming from my phone.

Well after looking at the price of Sirius for a boat, Sirius can kiss my ass! Going with just a Bluetooth stereo to replace the fried one. Thanks for the input all.

You can buy a dock, a tuner, and a marine antenna for 200$. Run an auxiliary cord to your head unit.

The Sonichub 2 is great. Totally Bluetooth. Gets AM/FM when in range and will do Satellite too if you are a subscriber. Or play off phone. We keep an old phone on the boat that all it does is store music. Sync it up and rock out.
Then all controls are touch screen enabled on your monitor. We use a NSS 12 EVO2. Awesome system!

My crew learned the hard way. Listen to the captains play list and don't complain, or it's bagpipe music for the whole ride out.

Wait a min! Bagpipe music IS fishing music! You CANT leave Port without the pipes blaring! Then it’s switch to country for the rest of the day!

    What’s wrong with you people!
