I had a pangero tell me that in East Cape a few years back. Yesterday was defiantly "Lucky for the Fish". We were asked to post fish reports even the crappy days, so here you go
Yesterday (7-3-2014) went from a fishing trip to pretty much a boat ride. We launched out of Oceanside with the plan to head for the 209 and pick a spot to put out the chum line. On the way we ran across the thousands of birds and dolphins all around. This spot looked so fishy. We put out the troll lines and NOTHING. You decide, here is a link to the video I shot:
We put out the chum line and only got one, the tiniest blue I have ever seen. I even turned him over to see if the umbilical cord was still attached.

But all things concidered it was a pretty great day, after all I was supposed to be at work yesterday. The weather was great, conditions seem perfect, the only thing no one seems to let the fish know that.

Have a safe and fun 4th of July!!

Usually when the porpoise play with the boat. There isn't any tuna underneath em. That's just a fair warning. Glad you got out though

I was not aware of that..but it does validate our experience yesterday with the porpoise from our fish less boat ride starting from the 182-43-302-Coronado Islands. Thanks for sharing that. I will pay much more attention to how the porpoise react with us while trying to troll with them.

That was a lot of birds....too bad they were not the small white diving variety. Thanks for the report.

You want the pod to be hauling ass. Look for Terns picking out in front of the pod, that's where the bait is and that's where the tuna are.

You were suppose to get ahead of the ponies, slide the dines back & shut her down & wait for the ponies to come through....

Oceanside had dines, they wanted $50.00 for half a scoop, we bought a half scoop of nice chovies a few macks and one squid. They charged $30 for that. Didn't help though.
