SoCal Rod and Reel combo for Jigging

I know this is the age old question and is a common topic but just want some help in choosing a reel for my 90j. I'm looking to fish straight spectra #50 to a #40 floro leader and want something versatile for jigging and chucking iron particularly for yellowtail and Tuna. I keep reading the Trini 20a is a great choice but I'm not particularly fond of star drag setups. Right now I'm narrowed down to the Avet mx g2 non mc and the Trini 20a but would love to see if I'm over looking better options or better off getting both over time for different applications instead of the one reel meeting in the middle opinion.

Trini 20a is my choice. Not a fan of lever drags for casting

Classic saltiga 30 or 40 , well built reels that will never let you down , the new saltigas are great reels as well

I go a different way... I use a Lexa 400 with 50# spectra and a 40# leader for throwing iron like Tady 45's.

I was trying out my cousins this past weekend, I liked it but the line capacity it the only issue I had with it. I watched someone on our boat get spooled by a Bluefin using a Lexa 400

Star drag reels and jig sticks are like peanut butter and jelly. You can’t have one without the other. Well you can but it just isn’t right.

Whatever reel you go with make sure you spoil it with 65lb braid and not 50lb.

Trinidad 20a for 50#

Trinidad 16a for 40#

That's what I use currently, but there's plenty of other choices. I used to throw with a Tranx 500HG, but prefer the Trinidad now.
