Fortunate to be departing not today. Cold and windy here in north county.

Safe travels to the promise land fishers

Technology has advanced greatly. Jason has a electronic shower. Never used one before and wasn't sure what the control pad was at first. Very accurate temp gauge :)

The last report from the rocks was exceptional for yellowtail including a 40# on the surface iron. I'd be pretty excited about that. I'm curious to see if you hit the ridge and see what's up there. Good luck and have fun. Wish I was going out.

The 2 day boat ride each way would be worth the shot at a 40# plus yellowtail any day of the week and twice on Sunday..!!

Don’t you hate it when you’re getting spooled as you keep tightening the drag and it does nothing to slow that bastard down?

If we make it to the Rocks, my surface iron plan is Pro Gear 454, fairly long 50 lb mono topshot, Calstar Grafighter 850H. See what happens.

Lot of leverage with the 850H. Question is can you swing it with 50lb, on the 454 with a fairly long top shot? Kind of hard to think of having a "finesse" surface iron outfit, but I'd have a 8 footer around with 40lb because I have a hell of a time casting 50lb with the required distance. This might be a place where the straight spectra, 4ft leaders take over, might try that too. Take some pictures.
