Whew. I'm too old I guess. I like to read newspapers--several of them--to get different points of view. I like to read thoughtful arguments that propose an idea, and back it up with information and data.
Who? I'm guessing the answer is younger folks, who grew on internet soundbytes. "I doan read nuthin' that's longer than 15 words long." I'm wondering whether the wonderful internet , which we old farts had so much hope for being a source of information and enlightenment, has turned into a device for increasing cognitive bias.
My experience says that every time I get to actually meet in person someone who has different views, we get along and realize that we are both decent people. But, lordy me, the internet format seems to encourage a lot of testosterone driven aggression. Whew.
