Huge thanks to Ali and BD Outdoors for once again providing swag/raffle prizes and an awesome jackpot prize for my annual charter trip! This year’s trip was on the Vendetta 2 with Captain Ray Summer at the helm and Nick Lambert and Shane as our awesome deckhands extraordinaire! The crew couldn’t have been any better! Our original plans were to go offshore in search of tuna but we opted for plan B to head to the Coronados since offshore’s bite with recent reports were dismal. We had a full day at the islands moving to different stops throughout the day. I don’t have the final fish count, but we were able to get @ 29 yellows, numerous bass, several barracuda, 1 lingcod and 1 scorpion that I saw.
We had a great group of BD alumni members on this trip along with some new members. Lots of smiles and laughter all around! Food was great with breakfast sandwiches, nachos and cheeseburgers provided by the boat and I made my traditional NY-style cheesecake topped with fresh strawberries.

Some of our new joiners to the trip:
Spyder giving Brandon P. the BD salute for tangling Spyder's line:
The jackpot prize (donated by Ali/BD) was a Phenix rod for the biggest fish. Nick placed the top fish on the balancing scales and there were 3 of us with the top weighing fish, fairly close in weight. I won with the heaviest fish, then Ed Mayadag’s was 2nd and Frank Santiagos was a close 3rd!
Nick weighing the fish to determine the jackpot winner:
We drew names for raffles prizes and had goodie bags which included BD swag, t-shirts, caps, koozies and gaiters and jigs. Plus, we got some raffle prizes from Frank and Hook-up baits!
I promised Scott (Gil Marlin) that I would make sure we got some tuna on this trip but since we didn't end up going offshore, I made sure he got some tuna afterall.
We went home with some nice bags of fish, raffle prizes, great memories and ready for the next trip!
Later that night, fruits of our labor:
It was great connecting again with our alumni BD group and adding new faces to our group. If you ever get the chance to fish on the Vendetta 2 with Ray and his crew, jump on it! You won’t be disappointed! We are all ready to book the next trip!
