After several attempts I finally got one today off Redondo chasing breezing bait schools......
Water was 73.....,conditions excellent & nobody around......,'till I hooked up that is.Me & 1/2 dozen others then chased the bait for a couple hours but nothing except a few shortbites & a bonito.....
Then it was back to the hot-ass valley only to find my A/C on the fritz.........,oh well,at least the Bbq works......
Btw......,I was solo & had a couple dogs after my fish but managed to turn it around & a quick gaff to the head foiled 'em........ (o:

Robert, Congrats!! It's always great when your efforts finally paid off. AC is off?? I'm getting ready to
move to Corona to a house without an AC. I don't even want to price them!

Nice tail. Must have been a thrill to get it done solo. Good job!

I managed one on Friday as well and also a bonita. I turned my bonita into a 300 lb hammerhead while fishing for more yellows. Hammerhead took me 1.5 hours to catch and release on 200 lb test and a 30sw. It put on a great show and was a blast to fight. I was in 124 feet of water.

Off of PV in the same area as the fleet on Friday. Had the Spitfire come right down my Starboard side while I was fighting it as well as the Voyager. I'm guessing they all thought I was crazy fishing stand up with a 30SW and a boomer jr. rod full bendo in 125' of water. I have caught A LOT of makos but only a few hammerheads so I had no idea how much they can pull definitely a worthy adversary.

Figures. Heymon moved his boat south to San Pedro to be closer to the fish. Not!

That is a sweet YT you got there. I picked up 2 myself on Sunday in the bay after not even a sniff on Saturday. They have been out there for a while (and everywhere else), just a matter of being in the right place when they pass through.
How quickly we forget the YT on the rockfish spots in SMB last year!

    Very nice! :hali_olutta:

Got my SMB YT a couple months ago when they showed up close to the beach. Nice fish in the 30lb range. First inshore SMB YT for me so I was super stoked. :hali_olutta:

Hope you get some more. I have a feeling we will be getting some well into lobster season. :hali_olutta:
