Had the pleasure of Vince taking Evan and myself out Monday for an early half day trip. The more he goes, the more he grows and vice versa.

    Heading out.

Weather was nice all morning. Did some critter/bass fishing. Trolled for bonito and a possible yellow. Evan likes trolling, sitting on the anchor when the bite is slow is a bit tougher.

Together we landed this nice sandoval on his new bass stick I set up for him. And yes, he wanted to eat it so it landed on the grill that night along with some nice reds we caught on the last trip.

    New sandoval king!

Besides getting a bit tired here and there he hung in like a champ. I have to remind myself he is only 3 1/2 years old sometimes.

Headed in around 1130a as the wind started to pick up. It really is nice to see Evan getting used to the boat.

    Species:

    Sandovals
    Calicocks
    Bonito
    Black Croaker

Thanks again Vince. The more Evan goes, the more he grows and the more work we can make him do in the near future.....ha!

I think Me and my buddy heard the woo hoo of that fish as we were fishing a little shallower than you guys. I laughed as it reminded of that Berkley commercial.

Congrats on getting your boy on such a nice fish. May three year old is starting to get excited about fishing.

I spent 43 years of my life in, on and around the ocean. Now with Evan it's like experiencing it all for the first time again at 46 years old. Now once my 1 year daughter Ruby is ready to go it's going to be double the pleasure.:hali_olutta:

Hope to see you out there with you 3 year old soon.

Dude!!!!! Epic!!! That Sandoval??? I'm assuming that's the little mans description?? Hell yes kill a mess of limit size sandbass teach him all about the inerds like milt and eggs how they reproduce!! This past week my 8 year old deck packed four BFT 65-155. Pulled guts through a gill plate then filled each fish with ice. Wraped in cloth. Then ice on top tarp over. Best when too big for kill bag. Great problem!!! Lol

    Great job dad!

As a dad of 10 yr oldes myself, I find the best day fishing for them (and me) is when they have "jobs" to do. One boy is the designated "safety patrol" counting life jackets and listening to VHF; one boy is "wake watcher" looking for crazy sportboats throwing wake our way; other jobs are "fishing pole watchman" or "barkeep" I try not to tell the authorities who brought me all the beers! j/k!

Keep them busy, they'll keep you fishing!

If you put the size of that bass to him vs a bass that size to you, it would be 30-40 pounds. Great job on that big grumpy bass.

Great job dad! One question: How the heck do you have 70,000+ posts but only 130+ likes?

Do Post/Like counts roll over at 99,999? :D

I go back a long way with Jason and Ali on BD. I used to be one of the "funny" guys. Back then we joked a lot about post counts. Some people took their # of posts way to seriously. I liked to poke fun at them and thus, I got 69,000 posts instantly. Plus, back then, likes wasn't an option or I would have 70,000 of those too. LOL

I used to post a lot of fishing reports too with Vince aka Red Drum. At one point, I think we posted more reports than anyone. Times change, other things get in the way. For me, 2 kids means not as much time. And when I do fish, not much time to post. Vince still fishes more than ever. :hali_olutta:

I bring my son hooping as many times as possible to pull rope. His qualifications are size XXL shirt, size small hat (more brawn than brains - just kidding), never gets seasick, loves to catch bonito, doesn't eat lobster and knows how to wash the boat. Perfect! :D
