    Congrats, that is a monster. Seems I recall the world record fish was, at least, in the mid 50s in length. The pictures of it show that it was not 44.5" for sure. Think somebody at IGFA must have made a typo of some sort. The fish in my avatar was 45" and thick at 45.5lbs.

    Congrats on the monster halibut!!

    Those things are all over the road for weight when they get that long. My wife has two to her credit that were 47-1/2" that were 36# and 37#. When I gaffed them, I was sure she had caught 40lbers.

    Outstanding catch! A friend of mine caught one at Santa Rosa that was 60 inches and weighed 50lbs. Yours was a fatty for sure!
