Got back from Sitka last Friday, fished with Island View Charters
WOW with the 4 king annual limit for non residents really made the trip.
Got our limit of kings to 22 lbs, and halibut everyday to 75lbs
Need a COVID test before arrival in Alaska, went to Walgreens no charge
on the test cannot be over 72 hours old.
Island View cannot say enough about owner Kevin and skippers Reed and John.
Suggest you go lots of fish as no one fished the month of May.
Yes felt very safe and good protocol for Covid
Fish On

Glad to hear a nice report! Man those are sure some nice CHEAP fares to Sitka these days! Normally fish 4-6 days in early June each year and late August too but wavering this year. What is the protocol while out fishing and lodge time? Masks required? Just curious! Thanks!

I would not waver but go my group all fished together all COVID negative as we had the test. i would say mostly social distancing as you are out side 90 % of the time
I would also assume all folks going to fish will have the test and be negative
we all had masks and did wear them some we thought appropriate
Have fun fishing
Me headed back with another group of 16 in September

Good trip especially with the King’s. I’m going to Yakutat in September. Is that 72 hours prior to departure?

Its 72 hours from arrival. If you don't have a result, you must quarantine with your outfitter, and the only thing you are allowed to do is,,,,,,,,, fish! If no test, they administer at airport, and you must then quarantine with your outfitter, and fish! There are follow up forms, and you report your test result via email when you receive. So state has become accommodating to the sportfishing industry.

We were with Angling Unlimited June 27-29. Very good chinook fishing, I got 5 first day always fun to release fish. Hali up to 44.5", limit is 45". We put the first coho of the season on deck, 9 total. My brother and sister in law live in Juneau, so they get 3 chinook a day. We boxed 27 in three days. Brought back 90# total fish, (chinook, coho, one chum, hali, rockfish, black cod, p-cod, and three lings) so I can catch and release all Washington fish! And eat the good stuff right off the feeding grounds. Chinook up to 18#, larger fish from a week earlier had moved on. But more are on their way daily.
