Well, not sure if it was the warm weather or the 5.0 earthquake in Lone Pine (which I didn't feel while in Bishop getting gas) but the fishing was pretty slow.

Started off the first morning at float tubing off the water fall at twin for 1 small fish for two of us. Saw a bunch but couldn't get them to take anything. Went back later in the evening from shore (lower lake) for nothin. Didn't see anyone else getting any either.

Friday morning I hiked back to the inlet at convict. Lines in water at 5:45am. Guy catches nice 5lb right as I walk up. I was thinking it was going to be on. Nope, 3hr of fishing. Nothing for me and my dad caught 1 -12"er. We tried everything! Saw one other small one on a stringer walking out..

Late start on Saturday after to many beers. Lines in at Crowley at 9:00am. Float tube was flat on one side when I woke up. (ps. don't let kids play on float tube!) To lazy to fix it so I fished from shore with my dad and brother. Found a great spot at the north end of the lake that looked good. Some deeper water. 1 1/2 go by for nothing. Reel in and reset. 2 min later I look over and just see my rod bendo and pulling line. I run over, set the hook and I'm on!!! Good fight on 4lb pulling through the grass, one nice jump and eventually net her. Clean hook on the upper jaw. Quick photo and release. Another 1/2 hour for nothing, so we pack up and go to owens for about an hour for 1 small fish on the fly.

Sunday, I will make this quick. Same spot at Crowley but lines in the water by 6:30am. SOlo this time and was expecting it to be good. NOPE! 2 hours of nothing. Headed back to camp and packed up.

Good time with the family and great scenery!

Few pics from the trip.

Nice fat bow. I went up for a couple of days a few days earlier and had a blast. Too bad about your tube...a lot of good action in 20-24 ft depth. Got a slam one day...brown,cut, rainbow, and a big perch. My uncle got the same plus a chub. Lost a lot of fish due to myriad of rookie mistakes...pulling too hard initially, indicator getting stuck at rod tip...etc. The rainbows were jumping like Dorado...had a couple of fish throw hooks jumping. Got some nice fish in the 18-23" range. My cousin got a fatty that went prob 5 lbs +. Everything released.

Same story here, pretty slow. I think crowley was the best bite. It was a late morning fly bite. I got one on the iron and a couple bites on bait but that was it for us.

we hit June, convict, Crowley and tried Mary but the launch was not open.

The 78 degree hail on Thursday was a trip.

Yeah that rain/hail was crazy. I was up at Mcgee creek and man was it coming down. Pretty cool! The thunder and lighting was wild. Great pic!

Awesome. I think the just stocked convict
Fished Hot Creek for a couple hours each morning.Great dry fly fishing.Put 3-5 in the net each day with a few break offs and a lot missed. Finally got one of the Creek giants on a Streamer after breaking one off the day before.Too big for the net, figure it was about 26 inch as it curved around the net.Tom

What do you folks do when you have a boat in tow and want to get groceries without taking it everywhere? Is it safe enough to unhitch it and lock it at the camp ground or does it have to go with?

This is the reason i went with a condo a buddy of mine suggested.

although i don’t think there will be a problem. I would cover it with a tarp. Another option is to leave it in a rental slip at the lake dock.
