Steve and I fished the Shoe and PV up to the golf course Sunday in perfect weather. Temps were 66 at the shoe, dropping to 62 at PV. Fishing was better at the shoe. There was a slight uphill and in current. There is a crapton of bait out there right now.

We spent a good amount of time prospecting new spots for both bass and rockfish. Always good to have more waypoints.

We were done by 1230 with 42 fish on the clicker. Could have been a lot more, but this was a “check out new spots trip”. Lots of calicos to 3#, but no standouts. Kman Specials and jigs caught them all. We got a few on the drop, but most had to be coaxed off the bottom. Steve outfished the crap out of me yesterday. I chalk that up to his stopping the boat with the fish on his side. Bastard.

Anyways, we didn’t sink the boat or get arrested or towed. It was a great day on the water with a good bud. Thanks Steve.

Oh, I’m looking for another Trini 16a for the tuna quiver. Prefer a newer one.

What’s with the water temp fluctuating so widely between 59 and 71 in Aug and Sept the two hottest month of the year? That’s one cute fish where it’s appetite was bigger than it’s mouth! o_O

No signs of bonito? I just saw a youtube video where they seemed to be biting really well, but it was up on the Torrance side of PV (and they were little guys). I hope those 5+ pounders return to Redondo canyon like they did 2 years ago -- that was a lot of fun!
