I have been in your shoes! The only thing I found to keep the water out is a pair of waterproof pants that go over the boot.
Nice pun! Yeah, if it were bluefin in cooler weather up north, I planned on my rain pants over my boot tops... but shorts and offshore Baja heat... gonna give one or more of the recommendations from folks above a shot.

I've seen it get as much as a foot deep at the bait tanks on the excel as the boat rocks side to side. The water comes from the bait slammers on the deck and it's only maybe a 1/2 inch deep when the boat is flat, but when it rocks side to side... Once they empty one slammer, then you can just avoid the other side and it pretty much is like any other boat. As for boots, I've used waterproof hiking boots as they are more comfortable for me. I suppose you could use waterproof gaiters to keep the water from coming in over the top.

No doubt... just don't want a boot-full of water and having to slosh around in it for hours. So, agreed, the boots for less than "a foot deep" water LOL and the sandals/deck shoes/etc, for when it's getting consistently wet.

Damn, now along with SK jigs, Rip Rollers and Sinker Rigs for Bluefin, I'm gonna need three different boot/shoe types for my various trips!

I gave the Pelagic 6 inch boots a try this year since my 2 year old Xtratuf ankle boots started coming apart. I found them pretty comfortable to wear all day. Some foot pains I was feeling from my work boots even went away while wearing these for a week. They do fit wide. I normally wear size 11 shoes, and size 10 fit great in these boots. I still bring my standard Xtratufs for if things get sloppy, and flip flops for travel days.

.....laughing, Brother you still can bring those Old School "Go_loshes"... and put them over ANY shoes you wear!! Now you can be comfortable and fashion "savey"... simultaneously.... with colors to match your daily outfits. AND your Mom would be proud!

Ok but can we discuss tipping and how much once we’re done with socks?
Hey, from boots to socks is a totally reasonable segue.... but we need a few more connections in one thread to get to tipping!

Like, maybe "increasing sock costs," to "LR trip price getting out of hand," and then, maybe, "how much to tip with the higher priced trips."

    LOL

I can only say this about a tip. If you’re booked on a 6 day and can’t afford a decent tip, you should have booked a 5 day.

Since we're talking wet boots.... shoes.... sandals.... Crocs.... Flip Flops.... what not... and what types of socks... will NO ONE mention the "White Elephant" in the room?

Okay I will, ... What type of foot powder / spray do you use as your feet are wet constantly.... to prevent "Jungle Rot"? What do you do about the LR shower floors... before / after you shower? Asking for a friend....

    From a former grunt
    Change socks regularly
    Thin Wool socks will help
    Rotate boots if you can
When you’re not on deck air them out both boots and feet
    Flip flops to dinner
Flip flops in shower rubber type
    Regards
    Scott

All of this talk about fancy wool socks is funny. I buy a bag of the cheap crew socks from Ross brand doesn’t matter and throw them away after I’m done wearing them for the day. It costs me $7 or $8 bucks and zero issues plus my state room doesn’t stink after a few days so my bunk mate is happy.

If you ride the Excel and your boots get soaked out them up top in the corner where the exhaust vents and they’ll be dry in the am.
