Shimano Customer Service Nightmare over 3 Flatfalls

This is not about reel service...they have been great. This is about the Fishing General CS
This whole mess was over a complaint regarding 3 large flatfalls that didn't glow.
This is a copy of the email I sent to the CS Mgr yesterday. 1 of 2...will post 2nd next.
Shimano has lost a loyal customer!!!

The 2nd email showed a date coded 2/25/21 & location coded.. Turner's parking lot when I purchased jigs....
I sarcastically offered this picture as proof of purchase.... lol

IN RESPONSE TO ALL THIS I GOT A COMPUTER GENERATED SHIPPING INVOICE AT 5 AM THIS MORNING FROM IRVINE ...THE EAST COAST SHIPPING ORDER SHOWS BACKORDER TIL NOV....NO RESPONSE FROM CS MGR....WHAT AN INEFFICIENT SYSTEM

Sorry to hear about all that but what I find interesting is that the red/glow and silver/glow Nomads look the same in the dark but I find that I get bit better on the red/glow versions. Wonder if it looks different to the fish down at 250 feet

Stop "viewing" them...(your jigs)... with human like criteria. Our eyes DO NOT see in the same areas of wavelength spectrum as the BLUEFIN. Science has shown this recently with some clues to the colors visible to one of the biggest eyes in the fishing world. More research brother... will provide some interesting answers.... and even more questions. Curious minds want to know. Look on the "science" side.

In my experience, Shimano jigs seem to glow better than the competition... but not those!

    Brother....I don't know if he's still the man at Shimano.... but call Mr. DAVE PHIFFER.... at one time / possibly current... President of Shimano North America in Irvine. Keep climbing up the ladder brother. For a little $$ they could have avoided all this mess and bad publicity.

    At the manufacturing level .... a weak batch of the glow component.... or not enough was to blame for the failure. That means there are 1000's of jigs out there with poor "glow" performance... that others have trusted Shimano quality to be fine. You just took it one step further.... and actually tested...with criteria. Good for you brother. A $50 dollar "black eye" for Shimano. Too bad. Other than that hoping your trip went well with big John and the boys.

    ONE last observation.... explanation. The actual jigs you called out for lack of "residual phosphorescents" (glow) all have one thing in common. They have a mylar skin (chrome with scale pattern?) on the main metal part of the jig. This doesn't help... as the "glow" paint (somewhat translucent) requires a white base coat to achieve its highest level of luminescence. Thats why the other jigs in your test ...show considerably more glow.... they were painted.on a white base coat. Those who know.production and.painting... will understand what I mean.

    Example.... take a jig.... paint it white primer. When dry paint it a single coat of bright red. Now take a second jig.... paint it primer grey. When dry....paint it with the same bright red as well. NOT THE SAME IS IT.

    From my 30 year manufacturing experiences... this is the trouble with that jig. Mike should you desire the same effect.... buy a GLOW JIG.... and add the scale patterned mylar strips... onto of a great glowing coat...to get one that really works. Good.luck....just a thought.

    and Diawa too
    Just bought a bunch of Williamson from Melton...I'll try those next trip

    The last trip I was on 2 weeks the non glow 250g Katy Perry flatfalls got bit better than the 250g glow flatfalls. I don't know how the fish see them but I caught 2 nice fish on the Katy Perrys and zero on the glows.

    Some of you guys are missing the point...
    The thread is about Customer Service not lures.
    I have heard tackle managers and other fishermen complain about the quality of Shimano PHONE C.S. versus showing up in Irvine.

    I think some of the issue is the amount of knock off product they've been dealing with (read: PowerPro) and how they've set up their CS budgeting that's now resulted in CS problems. Not issues you should have to deal with, hopefully they can get it straight.

    Which reminds me, I need to call to find where my warranty replacement 100lb spool is...

    Not sure if the Irvine walk in customer service is open. Last time I stopped by a few weeks ago it was shut down completely due to Covid.

    I believe this is a ongoing problem with there glow jigs. I bought a couple at anglers choice last june and they made sure the glowed prior to selling. Only 2 of five glowed after uv light. I understand it is not about the jigs it is about Customer service. It is obviously a in going issue they dont want to fix. Just buy from a different company and encourage others to do the same. Hurt there bottom line. They will fix the issue.

    Ok... I'll bite.

    Shimano has retailers, distributors etc back ordered for months on product.
    Containers sitting on ships waiting to be unloaded for weeks
    while retailers have empty shelves.
    I'm going to go out on a limb and say the appropriate person wasnt sitting by the phone waiting for your call with nothing to do but deal with your 3 jigs that didnt glow right according to you.

    Take it easy. You are all worked up over something so trivial it imo wouldn't be worth a second thought.

    I've bought lots of lures that I didn't catch fish on.
    The sardines i buy dont usually work for Crissakes

    While 3 lures at $20 each may be no big deal to you...it's a big deal to a lot of people..
    I'm glad $60 doesn't require a second thought for you.... I'd rather give an extra $60 to Billy and the Red Shirts at the dock..they deserve a second thought....
    A simple response of they are backordered and we will replace them later would have been end of story....it's not about the jigs.. it's about getting jacked around. I have plenty of jigs
    Read the response from 1st rep....
    Also the first replacement ordered from South Carolina was B/O
    The next day new jigs arrived from Irvine

    My pillow, because if you fish them and get cut off, I would like to see how you
