Sooo I'm the only one who sees that big free swinging loop to jig connection as opposed to the established jig makers who have inconsistently drilled jigs that are often too close to the nose, weak, or too far back, dont swing freely?

Dont get me started on Salas brazing that needs a Dremel to smooth them out before you tie them on.

I see some advantages to that design.
I have never seen one in person.
I assume they are thru wired?

Good eye! I didn't even pay attention to the connection. That's interesting. Dammit! Now I have to try them.

Yes they are through wire. The size and weight is comparable with the Tady 45, they also have spring loaded weight inside to help the jig being cast further.

    Plastic surface iron?
It's not plastic, I believe it's a tad bit under 3 ounces. With a split ring it probably swims good, that seems to be the new thing with some jigs including the Diawa Zakana jigs. I will buy one, if it doesn't swim, I give it away, or toss it over the side! I honestly have no opinion one way or the other. Worst case scenario, I've wasted money on another jig that doesn't swim.

If I squeeze it, it flexes! Sure feels like plastic. Must be composite.

Exactly the same material as my waxwings and poppers! They ARE plastic

Got the Shimano Current Sniper Swim Kick 160S jigs as free gift from Shimano booth for buying Trinidad reel at Bart Hall show in Long Beach. Do I need to upgrade the treble hook to heavier duty treble hook such as Owner STS66 treble?

I caught 5 yellowtail on one on my last long range trip, they were between 45#-50#. Hooks held up fine and it was the same jig that caught all of them. They swim fantastic and me personally I'd fish them as they come. Leave the split ring on because they swim way better with them. If you're throwing it to foamers of bluefin, you might change the hook and split ring to beefier models. That mint pattern was a killer on those big yellowtail on my trip.

Thanks Tom Honaker for the reply! The lure looks to have strong split ring and treble hook. I tested the treble hook by trying to bend 1 of the hook with strong force and I bent it some. I am sure that the hook will hold well for yellowtail similar to the factory treble hook for yellowtail fishing on yoyo lure from Salas and Tady. Since I am not sure that I will be using the jig only for yellowtail, I replaced the factory split ring and treble hook with Owner Hyper Wire split ring #9 (170lbs rated) and Owner ST-66-TN 4X size 3/0 treble hook for peace of mind for foamer blue fin. I like your advice on keeping the split ring on the lure for better swiming and the mint color for yellowtail. I will replace the front split ring with hyper wire split ring since I don't know the rating on the split ring. It would be nice if the manufature gives us the spec on the split ring and treble hook so we know what on it.
