Who else has one of these tucked away in their Arsenal?

Mines about 20 years old (400s). Cleaned and lubbed every night after every trip. Reel cover while not in use on the boat. It was my baby. Small mods over the years.

From calicos, sandbass, barracuda, bonito, perch, yellowtail, albacore, yellowfin, bluefin and crazy giant squid.

As a young college student and deckhand for several summers I could not afford much. I had one rod and reel bought for me as a gift from my sister. This one did it all and made your work for it. As you can tell from the pics it was babied. And it was heavily used to slaughter thousands of fish. The reel was simple, easy to maintain and just worked. Just wondering who else out there has kept their old school Calcutta.

My oldest is a 250. Frames are definitely bullet proof. Everything else I've replaced over the years from wear n' tear. LOL

I throw stick baits on my 200 still. Even with Cf drags the drags aren’t very good on the 200 and really don’t preform that well, it works ok. But I love my Calcutta’s. I destroyed my first 400 on
Albies! All my partners said I was crazy using a bait caster. I told them this is the future. Schoollie bf , albies, skippies. I loved my Calcutta’s. Calicos shit 1000’s.. I’ll never sell um!

I used to have a 400 B 400 S and 300 TE. They all were my first expensive at the time reel. Baby them like no other. Gave the 400 B to a kid that wanted to learn baitcasters, recently sold the 400S and still have the 300 TE around somewhere. All were still smooth and strong... would fish the TE every now and then just too. Had them in immaculate condition. The 300 TE was scuffed a bit than the others from fishing jetties.

I had three different reels in the 400 series, and had a 700 at one time. I traded them out for Penn 965's and 955's for long term parts availability.
I never had problems with the Shimano's.
