I have a couple questions about the Shelter Island boat ramp and the area since I live 3 hours away.

    Questions:

    1. Is this the best boat ramp to use to go to the Coronado Islands

    2. Can you leave your truck and trailer parked overnight while you spend the night at Coronado Is. on your boat?

    3. If you can park overnight, how many nights are you allowed leave your truck and trailer parked?

    4. Is there a wash down area at the ramp to clean your boat and flush the engine?

    5. If not, where is a coin carwash?

    1. Best I would say no. Closest to the islands and the best bait yes.
    2. Yes I have left mine for two days without issues.
    3. Until your rig looks abandoned ( unsure) .
    4. No
    5. Go north on Rosecrans and I bet you will find one.
Hope this helps and good luck with the yellows.

If you have a big boat/truck it can be tough to launch at SI at high tide. not much room above waterline. Generally speaking it is adaquete though......Small amount of water in the launch basin to get a big boat onto trailer at low tide

When you park stay within the lines or pay a ticket!

I have never had problems staying for a few days but if you continue to the end of the road you will find the police office and it might be good to let them know if you are going to be gone long!

Used the Shelter Island Boat Ramp and it was okay. Very tight quarters and would hate to see it at low tide. But, it was very quick and easy to get to the bait barge and Coronado Islands. Fishing was not that greatest for yellowtails, but caught some big Whitefish and rock fish.

    Thanks for the comments
