    our friends on the hula girl caught that same fish that was estimated at 1200lbs. the day or two before about a 1 mile to the harbor.... nice catch

    I figured 150 + lbs. of meat missing and everyone else looking at it agreed that it was at least that much. The short measurement and girth calculation put the fish at 1158 but even the short measurement had to be estimated because after the marlin was hanging for about 35 minutes, the tail broke off and she fell in the water! There was no meat at the tail to hold her together. When the bill hit the rocks at the bottom, it shattered into a bunch of pieces. It's safe to call her a 1200.
