I was lucky enough to find what I’ve been told is a seeker 540 composite (graphite/fiberglass) half honey colored half graphite colored blank. Does anyone have any info on these rods? The friend I got it from swears it was a prototype and I’m inclined to believe him since I haven’t found anything about these anywhere.

Why not try contacting Randy Penny at United Composites? Or better still, contact Seeker.

I have honey glass composite seekers up to 9', They could have made a 540. Could be a sabre graphast 540, I have one and would be hard to tell the difference. Don't see any reason to doubt your buddy though, very well could be. If you're thinking of selling it let me know,I still fish some of mine

I don’t really want to sell it I’m just trying to figure out what it is. I guess I’ll try to contact seeker and see if they have info. It’s a neat rod with a cool joining design in the colors. And it feels like a pretty nice 40lb old school jig stick. If anything I’ll wrap it and throw it with the rest of the long rod collection.

Even if it's a sabre grafast 540 buy it if you don't have one, Really fun long rod, just add a Newell 332 and some 30lb. It's a bit more forgiving than an all glass 540.
If you can post a pic of the area where the glass meets the graphite that would help if you can't get an answer.
Either of those would be a great add to your long rod collection.

I'm leaning toward Sabre Composite as well, is it 10'? any other identifying marks or info?
the Sabre had a distinct overlap where the glass met the graphite, although a 540 is not really a 40lb rod, I'd say 30 max, I fish mine with 25.

Is the rod gray and yellow? If it is it's more than likley a Grafast. I have one nice rod for jigs

Look inside the butt . If it is a Seeker there will be a label on the inside. If it’s hand written it may be from when the company was in Long Beach. If it’s a printed label and I think it is. Ed and Rick at Seeker are making quite a few batches of different designs and colors. IMO there putting some cool stuff out right now. Build it and fish it you have a great platform to start with that will last you many years.
