    There we were….. lol
So, with the long weekend in mind I had booked another trip up to this beautiful lake here in Georgia, same guid, all that stuff, and he recommended we start early, due to the long weekend. Now when I say early, he Kent early…. Like 0400 early.
Well, with a mishap in where my buddy wanted me to pick him up, we made it up there by a quarter after or so.
Now the guid comes to the dock, he’s got his lights out, he’s already made bait, and he’s already caught 2 walleye. Walleye remind me of fishing halibut so much it’s crazy. Either the take it down straight away, or they just suck on it and piss you off. Anyway…
We hop on and he explained to us “if we were there @ 0330 man we would have had our way with them” well….. I drop first line in to 40 feet, and we’re fishing in 60 foot of water and bam, nice hybrid, about five min later, bam, my buddy land his PB stripper, solid 36 inch fish, cap says it’s a solid 25lb.
It’s probably 30min or so before we have another hook up , and a good fight, (left out we were fishing 10lb leaders ) and I pull this behemoth up and into the net, a solid 40inch fish. Cap says it’s a solid 25-30lb fish. Wow. PB fo me now on the strippers.
It’s coming up to daylight now, and we’re gonna make a move when we have a fly lined bait go off and bam, it’s a spotted bass. Trifecta for me. I couldn’t be happier.
Finished the day looking, had a few takedowns and nothing would stick, walleye…. Creeps.. but we were done by 1030am and on our way.
Folks, if you ever find yourself in Georgia, I highly recommend fishing Carter’s lake with Backwoods fishing guid service. The guide we use, his name is Micky and he’s a blast to fish with. I’m really hoping to put together a fall trip back here this year, we shall see.
    Cheers and thanks for looking.

Thanks man. Those videos are bitchen. Really want to catch a dam walleye lol 😆
That's how I felt... I'm from South Texas and this is all new to me. Trying to get better at freshwater so I can hit the lake(s) in our area when we have foul weather. We don't have Walleye in South Texas but I'm asking questions and learning about lake fishing in general, tactics for different species etc to get a feel for it. 🤞

Same here. I’m from Southern Ca and have been a saltwater Fisherman my whole life. Needed to learn about bass and lake fishing in general. It’s been a great few months here in the south learning and catching these fish. I’ve got more confidence now to get on some fresh water at home amd actually have some tactics to try and catch fish.
It’s bitchen down here. Kinda bummed I’m heading home soon.

That is great! Big fish, thin string, awesome.

And I know what you mean about frustrating halibut bites. Sometimes I swear I'm just gonna swing real quick every time instead of waiting around for the inevitable spit-out.

    Good fishin'!
