Sealing deck step

What’s up everybody, i have a 96 20’ Shamrock in dp, and there is a step on the deck that’s removable to get into the engine compartment. The step has a white rubber seal around the edge of it, that is all black n sticky.3 things. 1. What is that stuff? mold or some shit? 2. Should i clean the rubber seal(if so how) or replace? 3. Where can I get that white rubber seal? Any help would be appreciated!

If the rubber/edpm seal is sticky there is a good chance someone cleaned it with acetone or? causing a decomposition.....it can't be fixed. Your right, it's time for a new seal. To clean the old crap off you might try acetone, 3M adhesive remover, lacquer thinner.....it depends on what it is. Taco marine has a selection of seals that may work for you.
