Be careful with that sea lion at Shelter Island Launch ramp. a couple of summers ago he accidentally bit of a finger of a little girl who was feeding him by hand, one sardine at a time. He jumped up like they do in Seaworld and got a little more than the sardine. Ask the guys from the Outboard boating club there at the ramp. They were warning everyone right after it happened.

On a side note: my friends wife works at the Seattle aquarium. The nastiest infections that the animal trainers get is when they are accidentally bit by a seal or sea lion. Lots of real nasty bacteria in there mouths she said.

Also , during the launch ramp redevelopment public talks, Bill (project manager) talks about the sealions there at the ramp which could pose a real problem during construction. (Marine Mammal protection act and harassment of the animals) Also, don't be surprised if signs saying "Don't feed the Sea Lions" pop up after construction" They don't want a colony showing up and camping out on all the new docks.

It is illegal to feed or attempt to feed any Marine Mammal.

Should be arrested same as guy shooting tuna from a dock, killing a BSB or taking a GWS.
Admin should remove the offending video.

Would you hand feed a wild dog??or let one approach you or your family??
The damage they are capable of goes way beyond what people think...and the bacteria levels from a bite are among the worst in nature..
Working on a bait boat and bait dock forced me to do hand to fur combat many times and I'm tellin you if things go bad someone will be suuuuper sorry...

I'm guessing the two sardines that I fed are not the problem, perhaps you could direct your frustrations with the fleet who drop huge fillets in the water every time they come in with fish.[/QUOTE]
What sport boat would drop filets over the side??? I would be pissed off if they were my filets!!!!!! Did you mean the heads, rib cages, skin, etc?
