It sounds like you did the best that anyone could to try to land that fish, congratulations on hanging it for four hours and getting it to color twice.
Aaron was/is, WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE MOST qualified man on that trip to engage in such a battle, coupled with Mike McD and his unreal help and abilities, it was yet another epic "old man and the sea" tale for the Dan Gallagher Charter that will be logged in the books, and all of our memory banks!!!

The only way to fix that ending is to write another story! I thought I missed the fish of my life time a couple of years ago. 100lbs BFT at the stern corner with gaffs in the water. Deckhands told me one big lift and they had it. Gave them a smooth lift as it turned on the final circle and pulled the hook! So, I know the feeling. Hang in there and keep catchin'. Caught an #80 the next morning. Few months later the cow. Start writing!!! Love the read.
