Scorpion Sportfishing East Cape Report - June 9, 2019 The weather and the water turned a little warmer this past week. It has taken a little while for the fishing to turn the corner but this week the fishing was en fuego!! Tuna fishing is red hot! School of porpoise were found anywhere from 20 miles to 40 miles from shore this week. When located the tuna were hungry and devoured practically anything you put the in the water. From cedar plugs to hoochies to Rapalas and squid, they were all working to put fish in the boat. There were huge schools of tuna from footballs up to 45 lbs. In fact, when we hooked up you could look overboard and see all the swimming tuna under the boat. These conditions present a great opportunity for those who want to throw poppers or flies to yellowfin tuna. There was also the first cow of the year brought to the docks this year by the fleet so we should start seeing more big ones hitting the docks soon. Fishing for marlin continued to be really good. Boats targeting marlin were able to release several marlin each day. Marlin were taken on lures and trolled ballyhoo as well as live bait. While some continued to be caught close to home, the large school of stripers has moved a bit south to Los Frailes. Action for dorado and wahoo continued to be sporadic. There were some really nice dorado caught by the fleet this week so we are hoping to see more as the season progresses. Roosterfish, jacks and ladyfish were on the chow close to shore as more bait comes into the area. Trolling live bait was the way to get on them from the boat. Lures and flies from the beach were also productive. So now that you have heard how great the fishing is right now, here comes the best news. Scorpion Sportfishing is offering $100 off El Regalo full day trips and $50 off Scorpion full day trips through the end of the August!!! We have immediate openings for both boats and want to keep our guys working. If you are interested in getting in on the red hot action and want to fish with Baja's best, now is the time!
