Wanted to get back out to SCI to give the BFT another go. Looked at the weather for Saturday, and the morning looked fishable, and possibly as late as 3:00 pm before 20 knots of wind showed up. So me, my dad, and my friend Brad put together a game plan and gave it a go.

Left Dana Point Harbor about 5:30, and we were fishing about 9:00-9:30. First blow up was an epic show. Fish came almost all the way out of the water for it. About 16 minutes later, we put our biggest bluefin ever on the deck. Previous personal best was 130, and this one taped out at 170 pounds. We were stoked.

Put the lines back out and hooked a second fish. But it came unbuttoned after a minute or two.

Lines back out, time running out on the day, and we hooked another fish. We could tell this one was bigger than the first. About 18-20 minutes later we put our first cow on the deck. Weighed 213 pounds after being bled.

Always great to get to go fishing with my dad, catching fish is always there icing on top. Can't wait to do it again.

With the photo of the fish on your shoulder, I first thought you had cut the head off and was practicing using it for your Halloween costume.
    LOL

Wait! That is your Halloween costume. The guts were dangling

It sure did. It pretty much did exactly what was forecasted on the windy app.

Thank you. It was a little bumpy, but very fishable in a 25' boat.

Thank you. There's definitely a wide mix of 80-90 pound to well over 300 pounds out there. Never know what size you're going to get. Very thankful to finally to the cow bite, and put it on the boat!!!

. I'm definitely ready to go again ASAP!!! On the way back my friend asked me if we would have stayed longer if the weather would have been good. Yes, definitely. Might have been catch and release at that point, but it's not ever day that you get the chance to pull on 100-300 pound tuna. Gotta take advantage of it!

Congrats !! Super fun. Yes had many fishing days! So love catching. We hooked a monster but the hook pulled after 50 minutes. Then got one 65# tastes good though.
