Never been to Santa Barbara Island and with nothing really going on in So Cal we made the 58 mile trip out of Alamitos Bay. Conditions were decent there and coming back was great.
Got to the frontside and had no idea where to go, metered around a little and tried 140ish foot depth. All you wanted white fish. Kept a few threw most back. Main target was reds.
Set up a drift in shallower 100-120 feet and found some structure and had a great drift of Reds 3-6lbs and some nice size chuckles, sheepshead, and starrys. Rinsed and repeated that drift a few times and had easy limits for three plus some.
Used coltsnipers with a strip of squid and dropper loops. The coltsniper brought in more quality.
Didn’t take many pictures but it was a great day on the water, definitely worth the trip.
Also, check out this sick picture taken after a tuna trip in San Diego this summer. The background almost looks as good as our Grady.
