Left San Pedro at about 730 this morning. Stopped and saw MIke at San Pedro bait company and started heading to cat for the weekend. About a mile and a half outside the la light decided to put the jigs out think we might pick up a Bonito or 2 on the way out. First rod in put it in gear and I'm bit before I even gethough the rod in the holder. 10 minutes later and bam 20lb yellowtail on the deck. Drifted the area for a few minutes watching fish boil until the sea lions decide to show up. Now back on our way to the island hope this helps anyone fishing local this weekend. I'll try and report from the island later. Good luck this weekend guys.

Wow! I would say that's a lucky score! There's a few fish around there but haven't heard of anything wild. And he hit the jet head! Nice.

Thanks for the on the water report!

Fun fishing yesterday and today at the island. We fished hen rock all day yesterday for a bunch of Bonito(most released), calico bass(all released), 2 smaller yellows(1 released) and a nice sheepshead around 7 pounds. Water temp was high 68 low 69. Got a can at hen rock for the night and caught a few rays and a nice Leopard shark also released. Wone up this morning and decided to toss a dead squid in at the can and ended up with a 25 inch calico once again released. About 8 in the morning headed to the east end drageing a few small Rapalas for nothing. Decided with no live bait left to fish rock fish off the east end which worked out nicely. We finished off our day with 22 misc rockfish and 2 whitefish all in all a great way to spend the weekend. The yellow from yesterday was caught on a purple and black jet head about 6 inchs I will measure it when I get back to the dock since it is currently being drug behind the boat.
