I headed out to Santa Rosa Island (first time for me) from Channel Islands Harbor on Saturday. Picked up a scoop of squid and headed out in near zero visibility. We fished a few spots on the south side of Santa Cruz but couldn't seem to find the rocky areas we were looking for.

We then made the run over to the pinnacles on the southeast side of Santa Rosa and found what we were looking for. We managed six lingcod (three legal), quite a few rockfish and some really big whitefish. I'm not a terribly good fisherman so that was a pretty epic day for me.

There were quite a few red crab in the area. There was just one other boat there that I could see. A party boat showed up for a while and then left.

I'm also pretty sure we saw a white shark but I'm not 100% certain on that.

Half of it is just getting out there, Rosa is a bit of a far run, so congrats on that! You will continue to get better the more time you spend on the water!

And yes, I'm sure you saw a white, I've been hearing of multiple sightings below Conception the past week or so....

Looks like a fun day. The white shark wouldn't surprise me with the whale carcass off of Cruz.

    Great job Bobby!

That's a big load of very nice fish. Don't sell yourself short, you searched far and wide, moved around, found your own spot, dropped the correct gear, and landed plenty of keepers. Looks to me that you're quickly becoming a very salty dude.

What's the grey/black fish second from the bottom? Some kind of rockfish?
