I decided to do a solo run Monday. The boat sat unused the entire month of December, so I really wanted to get out and make sure everything was in working order. At any rate, I was excited to get some time on the water.
Couldn't sleep really, up by 3:30 AM and ready to go. Fired up the truck and I'm gone. A predawn start, cool, haven't done that in a while. This is where sleep deprivation started to effect my decision making (at least as the chances of catching fish are concerned). From my neck of the woods (Santa Clarita), you either head south on the 5, or west on the 126 to Ventura. For whatever reason, I went south toward Marina Del Rey...oh well.
After getting to the bait dock and guiding my boat into the tight spot in front of the legendary Matt Walsh, I learned they have no bait. Young guy in the bait shack said they had some problem with the skiff on the bait boat (?), so no live bait. All they have is small packages of frozen squid for $10. Oh well, I knew it would be mostly a day of goofing off with the boat anyway...
In the end, I got to enjoy a beautiful sunrise. Caught and released a few bass and white fish and my only keeper was an already decomposing balloon...boat ran great though! matt walsh.jpg sunrise parker.jpg

Did you see this guy on your way back in? Lol. Looked like brand new boat. Maybe first time launching?

What time did that happen? I did see that boat pull in i believe, being pulled by a Jeep. I looked at it and thought too small of a tow vehicle...boat and jeep looked new. They were getting ready to launch as I was leaving. Same dude? Sucks either way...

We were there at around 2pm and was already like that. He had a pickup truck, looked like the trailer hopped off his hitch then the boat hopped off the trailer

Does one really have to accelerate retrieving/pulling boat up ramp?
If you go slow would this scenario still occur ?
I've had my share of Doh!!!!s
    But not this serious.
Put gas in rod holder once using portable tank.
    Had boat float off trailer.
Truck rolled back. Not in park or parking brake. Jumped in quickly.
Guess I'd better keep rechecking safety steps.
    Or take up flying.

We’ve all had our share bro. But the gas in the rod holder is funny. I’m always paranoid of doing that.

Hate to see anyone’s boat end up like that. Saw a boat at Dana Landing that sunk last season. Forgot the drain plug. Nothing funny. I felt bad for those guys. But, every report and pic of a mishap makes us all more vigilant. That is the truth. No one wants to be that “Guy.” Be safe boys, duck season is over. It is time to fish.

Looks like a nice day on the water. I think I saw you while I was heading home on the 5. Nice rig.

This guy at least got style points by having his motor up while backing... Years back I saw a guy dump a Farolon25 there by having his winch in neutral and the boat rolled off his EZ loader...Unfortunatly it was a direct drive and he put the prop thru the bottom of the hull..at least no one got hurt. The chit you see at the ramp..
