Hello,

My son recently moved to Santa Fe and wants to learn to fish locally. Anyone have info on locations best for newbies as he has minimal experience, I will be coaching him remotely.

Thanks in advance!

I had pretty good luck fishing trout around Pecos, it’s about an hour drive to get to where the river begins. Great camping and day use spots for miles going up the river. There’s a fly shop in Santa Fe that sold me the correct flies for the time of year I was there, you can also fish small trout spoons on spinning gear in some of the deeper pools.
