Went out yesterday (Dec. 12) from 10-3. The NWS marine forecast was for calm conditions, but there was wind and short wind waves from the south and 3-4' west swells. Very uncomfortable. I headed toward PV from Angel's Gate, got wet, got a few boat bruises, then turned around and ducked inside the Wall for a couple hours until the wind died a bit. It was nice just relaxing inside at anchor and enjoying lunch and coffee instead of choking both down while fishing. Picked up a few small bass inside but lost several plastics to the kelp. At 1:30pm I headed to the last green buoy and did some fast (1.5 kt) drifts with Kman plastics weighted to the bottom with 4 oz torpedos inline 3' before the jig head. There were decent fish there, I caught 7 mixed bass before heading in at 3pm.

We've been out on the LA shelf before in some tough conditions. Its close in and looks easy, and you get out there and it's just a miserable dishwasher for sure. Its shallow 60-150 feet, and the swell gets bumped up coming over the shelf. Then the breeze off Pt Fermin kicks in. Cheers, you made the best of the tough conditions and caught some fish! And likely tuned up your boat handling skills in the lumpy & bumpy conditions.

I have found refuge behind the wall many times in my little boat.
I look forward to your reports

Of all the conditions I don’t like the washing machine effect is one of the worst, nice going on still getting a few!

Yep been out in those washing machine conditions and thrown all over the place, totally sucks. Glad you made the best of it and got some fish in the boat.

    Thanks for the report

Sometimes it’s nice to relax on the inside of the wall. Like you said, got to drink your coffee in peace
