A protection zone off San Juan Island is a crock of crap. These people have no idea what they are talking about, they provide absolutely no scientific evidence what so ever. These whales are not dying because they cant hunt due to "noise" off San Juan Island. What noise? Why San Juan Island?? Why not shut down all waters up and down the coast from Alaska to California if "noise" is such an issue. Get real people. Low food sources...maybe, pollution...maybe, changing water temps...maybe, genetic deficiency...maybe, trolling motors...yeah that's the problem.

    Rich land owners?

Maybe if the researchers would stop sticking them with big needles for tissue samples.

Stop harassing them for study by running their zodiacs and boats up inside of the exclusion zone that is in place for whale watchers and pleasure boaters/anglers.

Stop the Indian harvest of chum salmon for roe to sell to the Asian Market.

    ....

    So on.....

The biggest mouth besides the scientists were the beach front home owners protecting their view the last time this came up.

"O yay Save the wolf too" said the unwashed beatnik girlie being used as a mouth piece.

Lack of food? The solution is easy. Increase the amount of salmon that are raised in hatcheries! Win win for everybody

If the whales aint eating because of a little engine noise, they aint that hungry.

My boat is killing whales...but Gov't research boats apparently dont bother them?

So let me get this straight... about the time the Prius began appearing on the highways of Washington state, the population of the Orcas in the San Juans began declining?

    Eureka!

Noise. What is that guy drinking? His bath water? If it was lack of food they would all be chasing the sockeye run back to the Frazier. It could be toxins or they may have their own Ebola virus. But stop the madness. Quit suggesting something that is so half-baked without scientific proof.

If salmon are in decline, maybe they will start eating pennipeds! Problem solved then there will be more salmon! Maybe these GREENIES can start a Seal-101 class for the Orcas! I will volunteer to shoot them some bait for their project!

I will admit it is ridiculous at times watching boats chase the whales around the west side. It seems like it is only a few months a year anyway and I would bet it is the same type of people in this so called alliance that their sole purpose for being on the water is to fixate on the whales. It's amazing how these people can justify any of their own actions and condemn anyone else. Humans can be so arrogant... And ignorant... And stupid... And annoying... And... And... And...

Reminds me one day we were walking down the beach at redondo minding our own business when some lady (moments later found out she was with the marine bio program there) runs up to us and very rudely and excitedly tells us we have to get off the beach because theres a baby seal resting on it. She said our presence would stress it out. I looked over, we were about 50 yards from it, and her colleague had a little station set up about 15 feet from it snapping pictures like a mofo.

I said, well what about that guy? And she said "hes a researcher".

How did that skipper know exactly which way those orcas would go in order to stay in front of them?

He must have used the Vulcan mind meld.

I was there for this frikin shit show.....a baby seal got seperated and took refuge on a beach just north of Salty's. Some "people" decided to cordone off the beach with yellow (do not enter) tape everytime it beached itself in the same spot on the beach everday. They were fanatical about making sure this seal pup...that was going to die, not be bothered or stressed!!!!! Probably ten people in total were running this op for one frikin abandoned seal-pup.

I often wonder if these people know we have homeless abandonded HUMAN CHILDREN living on the streets with no frikin yellow tape making them safe. I often wonder why someone would choose to fight for a seal or whale, and not an innocent child. Rant over....

    Be safe all...Swanny

Because to them we are a virus that has taken over the earth. Animals have become more valuable to them than the human race.

I saw one the other day that literally couldn't even close his car door. Thought his door was broke, until I saw his blubber spilling out the side, one hand holding the door closed, the other on the wheel...
