Not much on the board here in WA for fishing reports so thought I would share where I was last week. My wife and I got married and Honeymooned in Cabo last week. Boy was the weather perfect! I managed to talk her into taking a charter for some fishing. Ended up having a blast targeting Dorado. We booked through "O" Othon Nolasco and he set us up with Capt. Augustine Pino. Augustine worked hard at getting us on fish from the get go. Started out from Puerto Los Cabos Marina headed northeast and started trolling for some big Marlin baits. Picked up some AmberJacks for the Marlins and lost a good size Wahoo. Headed farther north and drifted live bait. We boated three decent Dorado and we both lost a couple also. I about shit my pants when a decent size marlin took a look our baits but it was a little picky and never ran with it. While this was all happening my wife started to turn GREEN got sea sick... yeah fishing was awesome but it was time to head near shore for her sake. What a fun experience everyone should visit cabo and try some sport fishing! Ended up taking 17 pounds of Dorado fillets home can't wait to eat some!

Nice work. Great place to honeymoon. Isn't that a nice marina? Brand new. Did you go through Gordo Banks Pangas? http://gordobanks.com/

Cruised out of that port last April after meeting some Oregon dudes who were beach fishing. Nice guys and they kindly invited me to split the cost of there panga.

San Jose Del Cabo is great and if anyone goes down there just head to the marina and I am sure you can get hooked up with a panga. Nice guides marginal english, great experience, bring some big chrome norwegian jigs and rapalas. They don't always have live bait. All the pangas I saw had newish hondas and yamis.

Oh to be there now.

That was the first time ever in Mexico for me. It is a nice new marina and if you stay closer to to San Jose it makes sense to take the short taxi ride there instead of cobo. All the gear was good quality. Augustine bought bait twice out there from the local bait boat. He knows is stuff he explained everything well. Two of the dorado that we landed he spotted and casted live sardines right over them, then handed me the rod hooked up. 300 bucks plus tip for a whole day of fishing for two people is a pretty good deal. Some charters will nickel and dime you down there for bait but this guy is not that way. http://www.pinospangas.com I will book through "O" again when I go back for sure!

Matt, glad you and Mrs. G had a blast fishing with us aboard "Raha". Too bad that marlin didn't eat the bait! Augustine had nothing but nice things to say about you and your bride. He's definitly one of the hardest working skippers in Los Cabos and goes out of his way to put our clients on fish. We spend $40+ on bait each and every charter...there's no other outfit that would ever think of doing that... We look forward to you visiting us again soon. I wish you would have posted this up in the Baja section so that it could reach its target audience, haha.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us brother!
