San Felipe Panga Fishing

    Going to San Felipe next week and planing on doing to some panga fishing while there.... Looking for some advice as to what I need... The guy's I'm going with are saying 20# outfit with 6 to 8 oz sinkers and 3/0 hooks....

    That's pretty much all you need. I use a bass rod with 2 ounces of weight most of the time. If you're fishing the islands a 40lb outfit would be good all around too

    Bring something light to chuck small Krocodiles. the triggerfish will maul your plastics.

    If you go to Consag rock you'll want something to bottom fish with, around San Felipe you'll want a Bass set up like Carl said for the smaller stuff. Orange, White plastics, chrome Krocodiles...

    Been a while since I went on Panga Trips down there, but tackle needs never change for this adventure:
    20 lb. bass set up: crocs, plastics, small iron.
    40 lb. yo-yo iron/bait for yellows
    60 lb. dropper loop bait for bottom yellows and other critters

    I also used to bring, packages of hooks, old iron, couple spools of mono line, and hats for the panga guys as extra tips - they love it

    2 cycle oil and cheap fillet knives go over big with the guys also!
