justin do not waste your time at san felipe. if you want to catch fish gonzaga bay is the place. only thing that would wreck the trip is the wind. my two cents worth. sitinsidejim

Puertecitos to Huerfanito right next to shore is a good piece of water. Trolling and bottom fishing always catches something. Look for birds working and it can be yellows, roosters, corvina or sierras. You never know down there...

dont take down San FElipe so easily, with some luck you can have a really nice day fishing the Rock or the sunken boat

check my thread of San Felipe and take a look of me having good time.. I live here by the way... I have to say that normally I fish in gonzaga area for bigger fishes than SF, but if you have free time and want to have some fun with light gear and one heavy one for sharks or Rays, the sunken boat, the sunken cars and the rock in SF can give you a nice fishing time.

Bert i got home from gonzaga bay the 30th of oct. was there for two weeks. Hated to come back. thank you for sending the e mail I was found and call my wife the next day from the store. firecraker yellow and skipjack boiling all over on the inside of the bay. with some sierra inside too. had to scale down on the iron to get bit, I used a one and half oz. cripple minnow killed the boiling fish.the sierra love the reble fastrac so did every thing else, fish the outside boiling yellowtail there, stayed at papa fernandez on the beach. with the cripple minnow from the shore I caught yellowtail corvina pompano and small rosterfish. from the kayak trolling the fastrac north caught everthing but the kitchen siink, with stops along the way to throw the cipple minnow at wolf packs of boiling firecraker yellowtail. I used the Lexa 400 with 30lb. test and could throw that one and half oz. minnow a country mile. Great reel. the corvina really love that fastrac also. can not wait to go back. good luck sitinsidejim

to justin the yellowtail were mostly 5to6pounders the biggest i got was 8lbs, the skipjacks were up to 10lbs.a local told me the yellowtail run bigger in november. papa fernandez is north of alfonsinas in the upper bay one half of mile by boat at the most. the turn off is before the check point. there is a sign if you hit the check point you have gone to far, I stayed at rancho grande the first week fish the lower bay first. papa fernandez during the second week on the beach open to the coast, good luck sitinsidejim
