this fish belongs to same family of bass, thats why it looks similar to a calico.

it has some unique colors on this picture

I've been fishing that rock since I was 5. That would be about 37 yrs! My family's heart and soul is in San Felipe! My Tata bought a panga back in the 80s. Tony and my Tata were bien amigos! I miss my Tata! He showed me how to live life to the fullest! Quedido mucho Tata!

wow, I hope the permits show up soon. My group of 3 is headed down next week to BOLA and other spots via road, looking forward to it but wish we were doing it on the TR.

Got a report from a friend who hit many of the typical TR spots refugio to sqito by going long out of BOLA last week and had good fishing, got into the dodos off squito

I am waiting to see how this current deal works itself out before reserving for next year. I am shocked it has gone on this long.

I was going to open a new thread but I think I will post my few fishing trips here, so you can enjoy the view of the beautiful Baja scenarios way up to the north, really different the landscaping and fisheries that you can find on the top bottom of baja on east cape and cabos.

we have no monster fish here but we have plenty of species and good sizes to have a great time on our actual "small tanks" reels on 50# or 65# braid lines and light graphite rods.

here is my last fishing trip, this took place on the Enchanted Islands aka midriff area just 2hrs south of my town San Felipe.

Huerfanito and the enchanted islands on the back

this rock was really big, when you pass aside it feels like passing near a tall building

a school size YT and the 1st fish of my fathom 40

this was my biggest YT, nothing compared to your pasific YT but for us, is one of the best fish that we can catch in this zone

the sea was calm like a big pool
    [IMG]

this spottie was caught on the teaser rig while jigging for bottom YT

this was perfect time and perfect fish to get the Bubble blade to work

There was bit of "marea roja" for some days but now everything is good to go.
Right now you can get curvinas and few sierras down in the Rock.. few more months will be big sierra season on the rock

Wow yellowtail in San Felipe that's awesome! I'm going down to our place in two weeks, where is the spot to catch the yellowtail down there? If anyone is down there over Easter break and willing to take someone fishing let me know.

well, my mistake or I didnt put it on a clear way, those YT werent caught on San Felipe but in Gonzaga area 1.5hrs drive south, the road to gonzaga is now all pavement and really nice, you can drive up to gonzaga and get a panga there, or fish here in San Felipe no YT here, tho.
but plenty of curvinas and sierras

well those Yellows were caught trolling some deep divers rapala, yo-zuri and mirrolures, some on 4oz jigs we have no luck on the surface iron but maybe someone with more experience on the iron will got them.

I went there on a panga from a friend that lives in SF he normally dont offer fishing trips but I hear that there are few guys on the Gonzaga hotel willing to take anyone to fish.
