    hey fellows,

fishing in San Felipe is getting better and better this days..

these are some pics from my last trip this past weekedn to the Consag Island, 23 miles East from shore and 40-45 minutes to get there, trolling and casting was excellent.

reels used: Penn 320gti and calcutta 400TE... rods, trolling is a cheap big 5 sabre and casting a shimano 8" musky rod.

you can bet that.. as well as good finger fish food and terrific fish tacos.

my preferred local fish for ceviche is triggerfish, try them if you havent .

Its been a long time since I fished there. One time I even spent the night there. Turns out that is not a good idea as the damn seals never shut up. 10 or more years ago we did fairly well on pargo, cabrilla, sierra and I even caught a few halibut there. After a few years in a row with crappy fishing we stopped going to san felipe and just passed by on our way to puertecitos. If my memory is right the rock is only about 20 miles from shore.

You might be right on the rock distance from the shore.
I invite you to try one more time in the consag rock, since 4 years ago the fishing & game athorities are doing a good job there, so there are not more commercial fishing big boats or commercial pangas near from the Rock with big nets, that have helped A LOT to bring back the natural life there and sport fishing is good again.
I also stoped going fishing locally cuz it was a waste of time and money, and started going to huerfanito and midriff area.
But as you can see you can easily have your limits of different fishes here at S.Felipe as before.
There are many authorities of diff corporations on the water trying to stop the totoaba crime, so commercial fishing boats are far away from islands and sport fishing areas.

Look's like you had great weather. Should have been down on Tony Reyes this past week. For those that haven't gotten the word. Mexico has not issued permits yet for Tony Reyes. Four charters had to be canceled so far. I hope for those that have trips with Tony Reyes JR that things get worked out soon for ya. ITS MEXICO!

I heard it is at 7 trips cancelled so far with no paperwork confirmed for any trips, $200k+ in refunds issued. They need to get it straightened out quick.

Tony Jr applied to late for the permits . He should have done it in Nov. It takes about two to three months to get the permits from Mexico City. When he does get's the permits this year they will be good for five years. Maybe this will be a good lesson learned for the next time in five years. I feel sorry for the booking agent and all those that had planned their vacations. I have been chartering Tony's boats for years and I don't have any plans for not chartering his boats for more years to come. My charters have been canceled twice out of the last three years. When we do go its still the best deal in town.

nop, this was on "pio's sportfishing", he's a good guy and old friend, really know his job as well as his Pangas captains

but many captains here can take you to catch some fishes depending of the season and have a nice day

Well it's at least 9 so far. Just got my refund for the Del Marsh Memorial / Accurate Trip schedule for June 15th. Bummer. Hopefully Local San Diego, Or 2.5 day range fishing is good. Need some time on the water. And fish for my freezer.
