I was on the boat yesterday. Tough fishing but it was great! Captain Ryan went long and stayed late trying hard. We did not get back till after 7PM. His team he has put around him on that boat are a class act. Here is the break down. One fish came off of bait, one or two on a colt sniper, the rest on Surface Iron. Captain Ryan would pull right up to a school going nuts on micro bait and we would cast into the school. It did not matter what color the iron was, just as long as the school was still up when we cast, we got hooked up. I went two for three. I pulled the hook at deep color on the only hookup for the boat on a flat fall. It was an 80 gram flat fall that I was swimming through the foamer in a anchovy color. The other to I landed was on a lime green and white Tady C. We started to see fish in USWaters, but found more and more active fish in Mexican Waters.

Here are a few pix I took from our trip yesterday. Grease calm weather and foamers literally everywhere.....pretty much all day. Typical bluefin tho, all show and no go (at least on bait). They did react to the chum, but we had a tough time hooking them, even on 20 lb fluoro.....like Cajun mentioned, only 1 fish decked on bait. They would sink out pretty fast when the boat approached. We had just seconds to make a good cast into the foamers and hoped you got a hookup. They did chase the surface iron though, sometimes all the way to the boat. Matt, one of the deckhands, had a nice fish blow up on his iron just a few feet from us at the bow. Like Crazy Cajun mentioned, colt snipers and surface irons were the way to go on this day. And we were roughly 20-miles from the point when the action started. I weighed a few on my scale and they were mostly in the 45-60 lb class.

Epic photos!! Yea we followed them for almost 4 hrs from North 9 down to the border, lost a 40-50 at boat side. The fish had the jig choked and chewed us off on 30lb. Saw a few huge ones jump completely out of the water.

Looks like they were after red crab. I wonder if you could scoop some red crab and throw it out there if they might like that? Great post.
