Leaving next Friday for a 2.5 day out of Seaforth so i’ve been doing some AIS intel.. cuz I’m bored.

Not sure what’s going on here but both the Royal Polaris and the Polaris Supreme are heading to the general area. Invader and the Game Changer looks they were fishing the area today, and the Lucky B is beelining back to SD after doing so.

    hope they post some reports.

Thanks, I missed that somehow. Hopefully they shot their load off and are ready to chew.

Also hope Aliyar and Roy get some so the long run won’t be for not. Staying tuned.

Look at Tempbreak. The BFT are following the cooler water out towards Osborn or the 172 before they disappear. Personally, I'm ready for fish that'll actually bite. These fish are maddening!

Disappear? I hope not. Last year after the fish left the area the fleet went to Tanner/Cortez and SCI basin. Not saying that it will be the same.. they’ll be here until early November or until the first winter storms hit.

Follow that warm water from Catalina to San Clemente. Many boats were trolling in that region in the last few days.

Polaris Supreme, Roy Polaris, Invader and Game Changer are all parked out there tonight to get the big boys at night. Outer Limits is making a bee line to that spot right now.

As for the rest of the short range San Diego fleet, there are down in the red box area.

Like I said yesterday when someone said the BFT were gone, My reply was there from Colonett to Santa Cruz. The Majority of the bigger fish are North & North West of S.D and a lot of that smaller (20-60 with a few 100lbers) are West and South West of S.D. A lot of the 1.5 day boats from S.D probably don't want to burn that fuel to fish the Mackerel Bank or N/W of their, When they can burn 1/2 the fuel going to other direction. Hat's off to the few S.D boats going the distance and not worried about fuel. The day before yesterday when people were crying the fish were gone is the day The Thunderbird (From Newport)and a few other boats are getting some pretty good hits on them at night, Pretty much all those fish up their are over 100lbs. The Thunderbird had 16 fish and all were over 100 and a couple over 200, WITH A LOT OF CASUALITIES!!!!! A lot of those bigger models are North of the West end of Clemente. Go Get'em, there out their!!

Fishdope has been on that bite for almost a week now. Still tons of fish elsewhere that everyone is running over. The big fish are not with the foamers. Look for flashing and breezers with backs sticking out in the area but not with the foam. Many aren’t seeing them and running right through. They aren’t metering or on sonar when up just below the surface.

It looks like the fish is ready to blow up on the backside of Catalina soon just like last year. That was a complete cluster F with that giant parking lot full of boats last year. It was fun though because we caught a few before the party was broken up.

From what I understand, they are focused on micro baits just like this time last year. Hopefully the Polaris Supreme gets them to go today.

While I have no evidence of it I would bet good money that there is a fair amount of those fish that can be found in the SoCal/North Baja area through the winter. Too small to breed and the forage/water temp are good for them.

Nobody out there looking during the off season. I'd also bet that this season the fishermen will give up trying while there are still fish there to catch just like most non La Nina seasons.

Sometimes I wonder if there are any around that pocket of water extending up towards offshore of Pt. Dume area. Never mind, I'm sure if there were, someone would have found them by now.

    Good fishin'!

We fished that area last year at the same time and hooked into a bluefin.

Jason, you told it straight, brother! If two dozen big tuna are loafing along like they often do in a loose pack just a fathom below the surface, they are easy to see from a spotter plane but both a private boater and a sportboat will not see them on their sonar or with the binoculars if they are over a cast-length to the side. A huge number get run past every day, and then they tear up the inadequate gear and break hearts on a day boat within twenty miles of port that stumbles upon them.
