Fished the Oceanside 95 yesterday. 150 or so tails. 10 to 40 pounds. Yes 40 with a scale. Front side . Great crew. They are trying really hard down there. Iron and dines with sliding egg. Mostly bait fish. Boat is shall we say primitive.

Supposedly all the boats got kicked out and came across nice schools of better grade fish where they were allowed to stay

I agree, fished the same spot on Sunday. The Calico bite out there is also producing some nice fish.

    What do you by primitive?
We normally jump on boats in San Diego but decided to give Helgrens "Oceanside 95" a try. I live in Vista so they are just down the street.
Over the years I've heard horror stories from Helgrens, but I need to see it for myself.
Going to do an overnighter Friday night, the price is right and as it stands now only half load.

I fished the O 95 on a 5-5 last year and had a great trip. Crew was good and Capt. Rick got it done. A work associate left the next night on a 3.5 day and said it was horrible.
I will most likely ride that boat again. We can walk to the landing from my in-laws place.
As for SCI...I am leaving on the Fortune in a matter of hours to see what the talk is all about.
    :)
    Thanks for the report!

That would be a pretty short fishing trip to go to San Clemente on a 3/4 day boat. :)

Over-nighter. its an old boat, you might want to sleep above deck as bunk rooms could use a douche.

I grew up fishing on the O95 with Richard DeLuna. The boat was still decent back around 2000-2001ish when I did 5 and 6 day trips on it to the Lupe. I was thinking of going on a trip on it just for old times sake so I might have to go soon.

    Thanks for the report!

The O95 kicks ass with Capt Rick. I will be on it Friday night.. I fished with Deluna and helgren for years. This boat is back and it gets bit and there is cool fresh air in the rooms. Give this boat a try....you will like it..........
