With a beautifull day of weather on Saturday,I decided to have a boys trip to the Salted lake.We left at 4:30 am and started fishing around 7.It was a little bit slow at first, then it went wide, wide open around 8:30 or so.It is soooo cool to see my 2 year old son cast out his rod, actually hook the fish, and bring it in all by himself! We headed home around 10am with over 60 nice fish, got home around noon and had a huge fish fry and some ceviche.Nobody has got the runs yet,so the fish must be ok....lol.They are actually very nice looking fish, and the water is clear enough to see huge schools of fish all around.Huge schools,as in hundreds and hundreds of fish!

Thanks for the report Darrin. It's cool to see your son enjoyed fishing at early age. Is that the State Park Rec Center ? What was the temperature there ? I'm thinking about taking my 5 yrs old daughter tomorrow.
    Thanks, jim

That is one of the Marinas on the north side.I am not 100% sure of the name of the road, just remember how to get there.Temp. was a nice 75 degrees in the early am,and it was 85 when we left around 10.Just perfect. It got up to 95 coming back through the hills.Go and have a blast tommorow.Just use worms, and a # 10 hook.Towards the end it was super fun flylining a worm, and basically picking the fish you wanted to hook.Just not setting the hook on the little ones, and watching for a bigger one. Those Tilapia are a pretty cool fish actually. They have beds all around the banks, and there are some huge fish all lit up in cool red colors sitting on the nest. They would not bite at all,but after reading about tilapia,it seems they don`t eat when spawning.

Do they sell bait there or you have to bring your own? If so what kind of worm? I might hit it up with my two girls.

    Thanks

It is better to take Nitecrawlers with you...last weekend, the store was out,and we had to drive like 10 miles to get them....just easier to take them.Cut them into 1/2 or 1/3`s

What is the limit on them per person? What pound test. I see a lot of rocks.

It's been a long time since I heard news about the Salton Sea. At one time it was one of the best fisheries in Southern California. Then the seas became too salty and many species died off. It's great to hear that the fishing is really good. Looks like a great time with the kids. Thanks for sharing.
