Uh, are we serious with this? https://wdfw.wa.gov/sites/default/f...marine-areas-proposed-seasons-regulations.pdf

When and where do we give public comment?

@FishPimpII sent this to me last night so I don't think it was an April fools.

Issues in some order:

1. Area 7 getting more and more of squeeze. Proposed 45 day blackmouth season? March 1 to April 15 2021? What? With a 2 fish limit vs this past year of Feb 1 to April 30th (before the Covid Closure) with a single fish. We lost December, We lost a ton of summer/fall chinook, We lost January. Now Feb and second half of April? WTF.

2. Area 10 opens with 2 chinook limit on July 16th? Why? Can we ate least have a shot like last year at a decent length season in 10?

3. Area 11 keeping June and fall closed? Last year was because of hood canal chinook? Aren't we lookign at a decent forecast for south sound hatcheries this year?

How do we keep getting blackmouth chopped? Our co managers must have their fingers in the pie again

I think south sound hatchery rack expectations are down 15-20% give or take compared to last year, almost across the board, for clipped chinook. But that June closure for 11 blows. . .the hood canal stray thing is total dogshit.

Word is the tribes have been very aggressive against rec fishing once again. More than ever, they want us OFF THE WATER across puget sound. Makah's tripled their winter troll fishery and Stillaguamish tripled their ceremonial and substance fishery. MA7 is getting crushed because of Stilli. We've lost a month of winter fishing every year for the last 3 years, only to save a hand full of fish. Total BS and WDFW getting out played and rolling over.

Maybe I should do something else with my boat savings fund. At this rate, in 2 years we'll be down to a month long season..

Agreed that 2 Chinook limit in A10 is not a good idea for duration of the season...basically it will be over in 2 weekends if A9 does well on the opener.

Dropping months in 7 and 11 is a bit of squeeze too.

I'd take a 1 fish limit to open it up on hatchery fish year round. Recreational impacts wouldn't make a bit of difference in the big scheme of things. And pressure would even itself right out. But, we ain't being governed by common sense, fair negotiations, what's good for 2/3 of the stakeholders/co managers...and especially the license buyers...or what's good for the fish. Tribes call the shots. WDFW dances before the council like that drunk gold miner in Pale rider. And, yeah, the chick was hot and it was funny when poor old Richard Kiel got hit in the nuts.

And, so what should we do instead of bitching on the internet you say? Well, coming up against the tribes and whale advocates and winning ain't gonna happen. If you held all the power, emotional sentiment of the (mostly liberal) voting base and financial resources in the state...and had it out for the other party in the negotiation..would you play fair? Especially if you didn't care about doing the right thing. Nope. They don't care that my best memories we're trout fishing at Lake Cushman at 5 years old, Neah Bay at 8 years old and all points in between until a svelte 49 and holding here in the San Juan's. State needs to get their own ESA permit. Even if it means shutting down the salmon for a year. My 2 cents.

Need to get some sort of understanding of the situation to the general public but its a little difficult to get unbiased news out when every news show you watch is littered with casino commercials. We say we need our own permit every year but it never happens.... maybe when everyone quits buying a license and the money goes away someone at wdfw will realize they should have acted sooner.

My biggest confusion about this site is the lack of understanding of “liberal”. First off “liberal” or not doesn’t change the ass fucking we are taking as fisherman. Secondly if we actually wanting to fight this let’s be honest and say the natives are our number one problem. I’d put a lot of money and time at an actual organized plan to fight this direct fucking!
As for the staunch dipshits that wanna keep the “party” debate up and claim the liberals are at fault maybe realize you are the ones fighting the people on your team

It’s not a debate. The political climate here is a real threat to hunting and fishing. And is a good part of the reason recreational fishing struggles to meet the opposition on equal terms.

Liberalism is not friendly to any out door activity that involves any kind of environmental impact. Fishing, hunting, off-roading, even walking off designated trails is frowned on. That’s why All their activities are centered around observing.

After Inslee signed off on the recent bill giving the Tribes total control of all sports gambling (will be BIG $$) in this state, I would bet (not in a tribal casino!) there will likely never be another Republican of consequence elected in this state. Guess where the "donations" will go politically. Blueprint was Gregoire with casino gambling. The elected (re-"democrats") will do what the tribes want.

Sportfishing will become more progressively limited or even eliminated in some cases, as we are seeing with some of these cutback proposals. I predict many types of hunting will follow. We will only get what the tribes will allow. I would expect them to subsequently go after nontribal commercial fishing after the sports are hammered.

Follow the money.

Hopefully someone with more insight can convince me otherwise.

I am actually not a newbie. I have followed Bloodydecks for years and have been a stealth member for quite a while. I just don't post.
