My wifes' heading out to San Francisco in April on business.A guy she works with said he gonna be Salmon fishing while he's there. Is it worth it for me to take the flight out from the east coast with her to SF to fish for Kings or is it too early in the season ? Any other info (boats, locations) would be appreciated as well.

The April fish tend to be smaller than later months.
Book the Sundance out of Emeryville. Absolutely top notch.

Can you give us (well, ok, me :D ) the same info on Atlantic salmon? I have always wanted to do that. :)

I know theres Salmon way up the coast in Canada in the summer months but I've never made the trip up there. There is a good Salmon (King) run in New York in the fall, Sept-Nov. The Kings come out of Lake Erie and run up the Salmon river in Pulaski NY They can be caught in the Lake by boat or along the Salmon river by drift boat or by Wading along the river banks. There is also Steelhead that can be caught all winter through the spring.

l wouldn't buy my ticket just yet, predictions for the upcoming season look worse than the republican congress. Five years of drought has taken its toll.

Not only that, Spring in Central/Northern California tends to be pretty snotty, especially up in the Bay area.
Can't count how many times we've had the crap beat out of us in April up at Moss/Santa Cruz.

The Sundance did pretty well this past April. Just smaller fish. 10 pounders, a few smaller

I would make sure to check on the dates for the season. I used to work in half Moon Bay and salmon season would always open to the south first. It may have changed by now, but definitely check into it.
